MCE2005 InfraRed USB Receiver

I would like to place my MCE2005 InfraRed USB Receiver
farther away from the PC than USB cables allow. Since I
also need the IR flashers for satellite control leapfrog
style IR extenders wont work. There are several USB1.1 to
UTP USB extenders available. While the HP m1180n Media
Center PC has USB2.0 ports backwards compatible with
USB1.1 devices I do not know if the MCE2005 InfraRed USB
Receiver is built around the USB1.1 or USB 2.0
specification. Does anyone know if the MCE2005 InfraRed
USB Receiver is 1.1 or 2.0 ???

You should look in the user guide or manufacturer's web site for these answers.

Unless others are in posession of the same configuration with their PCs it
is unlikely that they can respond correctly.

If you are not able to find an answer in the manuals, you could try this.

Purchase a powered USB 2.0 hub. This will come with a 1.5 or 2 metre USB
cable.

Plug your IR recevicer into this and presto you have 3 to 4 metres distance
from the PC.
