McAfee takeover

I had been running McAfee virus protection and a firewall.
But my PC was running slower after activating the
firewall, so I decided to inactivate it to see if it was
causing the slow down. Now my PC keeps trying to boot up
and ends up at a screen that says "We apologize for the
inconvenience...(blah blah)...A recent hardware or
software change might have caused this". I originally
thought I had a virus or worm, but a couple of people have
suggested that McAfee is "angry" for me deactivating it
and it is a very intrusive program. Is there any truth to
this? I can't get into safe mode to do anything. How do I
fix this? Would a different anit-virus program fix this?

Hello
McAfee did not get mad at you and sabitosh your computer.
You have a conflict with one of your programs.
Can you enter the BIOS, if so then set the defaults and exit and try to
boot.

If your computer will not boot up the only option you have is to do a repair
install.
Boot from your XP cd (restore disks will not work for a repair install)
