Hi,

Real long shot but i am after a 30gb maxtor hard drive with a working
controler, the one on mine has broken (drive is still intact, i THINK). It
must be a 30gb Maxtor fireball 3 with part number (next to top bar code) of

nFnnnlnnn02nn

where n = any number and l = any letter. but the F and the 02 must be
identical.

my part number is 2f030j0310211.

If anyone could help i would be incredibly grateful.

Regards

Richard.

HAve you searched through google?
In the past Ive come across several dealers who sell refurbs of
surprisingly old drives - I mean really old stuff. All kinds of stuff.

Unfortunately they want relatively high prices for them. Depends how
desperate you are.

Serched google, rung MANY people all over the world, its tested my french
and german to the limits! To no avail.

And yes it is desperate. It contains some scripts which create a search
engine and the resulting search engine. Prolly 3 months to rebuild ;)

If I had not been lucky my last course of action was going to be a circuit
board test and repair company. This stems from an experience with a faulty
circuit board in a CNC machine. We removed the board and took it to a
company that specialised in testing circuit boards, they had special
instruments that clipped onto each component without having to have the
board mounted in the machine. In this instance 2 chips were found faulty
and the board was returned 100% working. Again it was not cheap, £200 I seem
to recall. The only problem is finding and remembering who they were, I only
recall they were in Portsmouth area........try your yellow pages wherever
you are or if you can get your hands on a Kelly's Directory.

sorry I cannot help further......
