When conducting a multivariate regression in excel, what is the maximum
number of x variables that can be used?

Thanks for your assistance.

You'd think it should be mentioned in Excel's online help, but it
ain't.

Trial & error shows LINEST and LOGEST functions support 16 sets of
independent variables but return errors when passed more than 16. As
for the number of observations, it supports more than 1,000.

Thanks for your rapid response - you mentioned over 1000 observations, do you
have a precise figure?

The limit appears to be 17 coefficients, which would be 16 x variables if an
intercept is estimated, or 17 x varaibles if no intercept is estimated.
