maximum number of characters

Mike

I found in the Microsoft Knowledgebase a statement that
says the maximum number of characters that can be in any
one cell is 32767 (2^15 - 1). I can't find a reference but
it seems that only 1024 (2^10) will display or print. Is
there any way to increase this (the number of characters a
cell will display or print)?

Thanks,
Mike

Excel 2000 Help (Search for Limit)

Length of cell contents (text) 32,767 characters.

Only 1,024 display in a cell; all 32,767 display in the
formula bar.

Excel Help states that "a cell can contain 32,767 characters but only 1024
will be visible or can be printed."

If you set the cell to wrap-text and place some ALT + ENTERS after every few
hundred characters you can get some more characters in the cell.

Before you take Help or my suggestion literally you may find some
enlightenment regarding the limitations of text in a cell in this google
search result.
