Maximum Memory Issue in Windows Xp Pro

My computer has a Zeon Processor running at 3Ghz with a
7505 chipset. The memory installed is 4GB.

At system boot-up the BIOS screen can 'read' all 4GB.
Windows XP however can only recognize 3GB (from My
Computer --> Properties).

Any idea why is that ? Do Windows XP have a maximum
limit of 3GB ?
