No, this isn't correct. The root folder has a limit of 512
*entries* (entries, not files and folder, because long file names
use multiple entries). Outside of the root folder, the limit is
very large--64k, if I remember correctly.

The "tested" maximum number of files per directory on NTFS is 20 Million
As regards the file and pathname limits:-
The path may be up to 32,768 Unicode characters long (65536 bytes).
A path component may be up to 255 Unicode characters
