Maximum file size for cache

Is there a way to set the maximum file size to store in the cache? The
problem is that if I am downloading a large file, it will first be stored in
the cache and then copied to the directory that I told it to save to. This
local copy often takes longer than the download itself since source and
destination are on the same drive.

Hi,

To set upper limits on your temporary internet files (cache) simply enter
the appropriate information as follows:

Close all IE sessions.
Spawn a single Internet Explorer setting.
Click on Tools -> Internet Options.
In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click on the "Settings" button.
Move the slider, or enter the maximum amount of disk space to use as cache in
the provided space.
Click OK, to save and exit the settings box. Click on OK to save and exit the
Internet Options box.

Note: I'm not familiar how IE handles large file downloads with respect to
the cache. Presumably, changing the Temporary Internet Files settings should
alter the way IE handles large files, but I'm not entirely sure if this is the
case.

Thanks for your reply, but this sets the maximum amount of disk space that
the entire cache can take, not a single file. This would not work unless I
set the cache size to something below the file size, leaving me with a very
small cache.
