Maximum Characters in a cell

I know that a cell in Excel will only display 1024 characters... However, if
you merge 2 cells will it double the size of the viewable space?

Nope. But it shouldn't take too long to test it.

But if you add alt-enters every 80-100 characters to force newlines within the
cell, you'll see more text.

You may have to adjust the rowheight manually, though.
