How can a IE window be maximized automatically when a new
IE window is invoked please? I am tired of clicking to
maximize...

Thanks

No build-in way to always make new windows maximize :-(
Strange thing Microsoft does fix this problem :-(

To get new windows ALMOST maximized to as follows:

- Start IE (first window will maximize if IE is set to start max)

- Click on a link (new window will open NOT maximized, right :-)

- Close the first window (the maximized one that is)

- Now resize the second windows to be as large as you want
Do NOT use the "maximize" button, drag it to right size

- Hold down SHIFT and close the windows, size is now stored

Thanks but I knew that way already.
Would like to learn the way to have new IE windows truly
maximized (i.e. not dragged to maximum size).

Cheers

So would I :-)

There got to be a way to signal to IE to open maximized, you can do it
with a Shortcut. So how to make a link do the same? A paramter to add
to the file-type command line for opening or something. Anyone?

Hi All - AutoSizer, here: http://www.southbaypc.com/free_utilities.asp
Recommended - I've used it since IE4 days. :)

There are also some other "workarounds":

"Close all windows EXCEPT the one that open "minimized"; right click on your
Task Bar, either on the open space on the right or left end (your choice);
select "Tile Windows Horizontally" and IE will maximize; close IE. Re-open
IE and it will be maximized. Just showed a buddy this trick yesterday and
works like a charm. Enjoy."

It does work like a charm, but it isn't quite a normal "maximize" just a
full screen with a border. However, it does subsequently hold that.

And here's another approach from a Frank Saunders post:

"From: http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/offpos.htm

Symptom: IE opens a maximized window shifted down and to the right.

Remove any 'Auto-hide' option for the taskbar and while the window is
maximized, resize the taskbar then return it to the desired size. This is to
try to make Windows re-calculate the window size and boundaries.

If no joy, run regedit and remove these registry key values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Then reboot.
