Maximize window problem

I am having a problem with opening any window of a
program, acessing the internet, changing pages in the
internet. The window will not maximize. It will open to
the size of a square and then I have to hit maximize to
make it go full screen.

I appreciate any advice on this.

First, *close all other windows*. Now, grab the corners of the window
and drag it to full screen size. Close the window using File>Close,
or File>Exit depending what program you're in. Windows will remember
the last screen size used the next time you open the program.
