Is there any way to fit the new fast XP chips on an asus A7M266-D . if not
what is the fastest cpus I could use on it, modified XP CPUs or original MP
cpus. I have MP2600 CPUs right now and would like to go faster without
spending too much.

THanks!

Assuming the MP you have is a Barton core 2600+, you have the fastest core
made for socket A. Just raise the multiplier til you reach about the
desired cpu speed you want. For higher cpu speeds you will also need to
raise vcore. If your board doesn't have multiplier or vcore controls, use
the pinmod or other means.

Next time post this in a more appropriate ng as this one is for K8 CPU's.

Have never found this board to overclock good at all so whatever you have at
stock speed is the best your going too do. I at one time modded a couple of
2100+ XP cpu's for this board, changing the xp to mp via a mod to one of the
bridges and try overclocking with no sucess to speak of. The cpu's were
great at overclocking also so was the board. Mp's are preorder now if
available still. Seems not so now here in Canada 2600+
in xp and sempron form...
