Max Size of Outlook.pst ?

What is the maximum size of the Outlook.pst file for Outlook XP 2003 and the
2004 Outlook edition? Is a 2 Gig limitation still in affect for these
versions?

First, you're mixing versions. Office XP contains Outlook 2002, not Outlook
2003. Second, there is no Outlook 2004. The current version is Outlook
2003.

For Outlook 2002, the maximum size of the PST is 1.83 Gb, but don't let it
get larger than about 1,25 to 1.5 Gb. FOr Outlook 2003, the theoretical
maximum is in the Terabyte range (10^12), but 32 Gb is a practical limit, or
so I've seen reported.

You have a couple of different versions here...

Outlook 97, 98, 2000, & 2002 - 2GB max file size. (this would be Office 97,
Office 2000, and Office XP respectively)

Outlook 2003 (part of Office 2003) - max file size depends on partition
format and whether or not one uses a legacy or unicode pst file format.
(unicode pst format on ntfs drive can be 1 byte less than 4TB, however MS
has a soft limit of 20GB for this file format. [unicode pst on FAT32 is 1
byte less than 4GB.])

Is there any way to increase the size of the Outlook 2002
pst. file or is this the ultimate limit to which it has
been set? Why set such a low limit?

you'll need to upgrade to ol2003 to use a larger pst.

At the time outlook was developed with a 2GB limit, the limit wasn't all
that low... and drives were a lot smaller.
