master/slave relationship

No it's not porn. Does the master drive have to be the first drive on
the cable and the slave the second? Usually the CD/DVD is on top and
the HD is beneath. The CD/DVD should be the slave in a CD/DVD-HD
chain, correct?

Correct. But you have two IDE ports so why don't you put the HDD on
one port and the CD/DVD on the other?

If you have two devices on the same cable, one has to be master, the other
slave. It doesn't matter which is placed where on the cable UNLESS you use
CableSelect for the ordering (BOTH devices jumpered so, 80-wire cable
required), in which case the master is the one on the end of the cable
