master document alternatives

Hi

I've been reading that Master Documents can really stuff up your work, so i
was wondering if there is an easy to follow alternative? i have a lot of
documents i need to make into one book for work, and i'm having troubles
going about it.

Hi, if you would just like to combine a group of documents into a Master
document use the addin boilerplate.zip by G Mayor and put in your STARTUP
folder as an add-in template or just go to Tools Templates and Add-ins (2003
and prior) and Browse to Add the template manually.

Open your Master Document and run the BoilerPlate toolbar button and it will
ask you to add the documents on the right to the left column. I think the
new one has the option to put a section break between each document being
added - Just test it first.

Always setup your subdocs which are just documents based on the one template
(same as your master document) and it will flow in really well.

The latest version of boiler.dot is compatible with Word 2007 also, and has
a check box on the userform to select the 'new page section break' option.

this doesn't make any sense for me, i've downloaded the PDF and the template,
i located the start up folder like you said, but after i did your
instructions don't tell me what to do after that, so i don't know how you got
from the start up folder to the illustration of word options. i'm only new to
word so maybe your instructions aren't for beginners or something as they
aren't easy to follow.

The file on my web site is a zipped (compressed) file which when opened
(double click from Windows Explorer) contains the file boiler.dot and the
instructions for use. It is the file boiler.dot that needs to be copied into
your Word startup folder. Then the next time you start Word it will be
loaded with Word and add a toolbar to provide the functionality of the
macro.
