I think the master/sub document handling is word is just awful! I have a
user manual which is constructed of about 20 seperate files. I have several
editions of the manual, which all include some of the different sections.
Each "master" has a table of contents, and an index.
Every time I need to update these documents, it is a major ordeal. Doing
things like inserting a new sub-document is incredibly hard. The section
breaks always get messed up, as do the headers and footers. If I work with
it for enough time (usually hours), I can finally get it to work, but
Microsoft should be able to do better.
The user interface is counter-intutitive. We have outline mode, master
mode, sometimes I can edit, other times I can't. It is Stupid!
I can't even edit the document on an older version of word (2003). I have
to terminal services into a newer version just to be able to edit without
crashing.
You have been developing word for 20 years. How long before you can get it
right?
I AM A VERY FRUSTRATED USER!!!!!
