Mark Up

Mark Up is a selected each time I open word. How can I default it to being
off. When I open a document from another employee I see the mark up. I
don't want it like that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Cheyenne,
What version of word are you in. Sounds like you might want to blow away
your normal.dot and re-create it... that might solve it.

these are the instructions from microsoft for office 2003

1. Quit all instances of Word, including Microsoft Outlook if Word is set as
your e-mail editor.
2. Click Start, and then click Search.
3. In the Search Results dialog box, under What do you want to search for,
click All files and folders.
4. In the All or part of the file name box, type Normal.dot.
5. In the Look in box, select your local hard disk. (Or, select an alternate
user template location if you are running Word from a network server.)
6. Click Search to search for the file.
7. For each occurrence of Normal.dot that appears in the Search Results
dialog box, right-click the file and then click Rename.

Type a new name for the file, such as OldNormal.dot or Normal-1.dot, and
then press ENTER.
8. On the File menu, click Close to quit the Search program.

Is that it? And if I want to re impliment it then change it bakc to
Normal.dot? Is there any downfalls to this?

noe.. no downfall.. it is just the blank page that opens when you open word.
it is a pretty well known first fix for a lot of quirky problems with word.
You can just rename the file and then if you did by some strange grace of god
have a problem you could rename it back.. but you really shouldn't have a
problem

Settings in Normal.dot have nothing to do with display of markup. If a
document contains markup, it will be displayed. You can disable "Make hidden
markup visible when opening or saving" on the Security tab of Tools |
Options, but there's a reason it's on the Security tab (it's to prevent you
from embarrassment at best and legal liability at worst if you send out a
document containing revisions and comments), and some users report that
changing that setting doesn't help, anyway.
