Mapping A Drive on a Local Network?

C

Charliec

I have a local Network that allows my laptop to access folders/files
on one of my drive (I have one drive with 3 partitions). A couple of
days ago, I had major problems and had to reformat my C drive and
reinstall WinXP. Most things are working ok now except I can't seem
to correctly Map my E drive to Z so it can be accessed by my laptop.
The laptop is already set to access it on Z, the E drive has been
setup to share - but I can't get the Map to work - I'm not sure what
to use in the Name part? The Map wants the following "\\name\E, but
everything I try in "name", I'm told it cannot find it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any tips/help.

Replace "name" with your computer's name, as shown in Control Panel >
System > Computer Name > Full computer name.

Make sure that your computer's firewall program is configured to allow
access by other computers on the network.

Thanks for the reply. I put it in exactly as shown in Full Computer
Name (Charlie1) and still get the message;

The network path \\Charlie1\E could not be found

Any other thoughts/suggestions.

Thanks
