mapped network drive remove problem

Windows XP is mapping a shared folden on Windows 2003.

When I remove a network drive it is removed from XP computer but somehow it
isn't. And because it wasn't removed it cannot be remapped (or removed).

example:

net use X: \\server_ip_address\share /user:server\username password
- network drive X is made

net use X: /d
-network drive X was removed

OK, so far everything is as it should. But here's where the fun starts. When
I'm trying to remake the same network folder something strange happens:

net use X: \\server_ip_address\share /user:server\username password

"System error 85 has occured."
"The local device name is already in use."

OK, so I'll then just remove it?

net use X: /d

"The network connection could not be found."
"More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2250."

So after all this there is a X drive but it cannot be used or removed. Only
a complete restart of XP computer fixes the problem.

Hi!

I have the exactly same problem and /persinstent:no -option did not help. I
have SP2 installed and automatic updates running. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Anssi
