Is it possible to retrieve (and modify) the MAPI properties of an email in Outlook 2003?

I'm specifically looking for the MAPI property

http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/x10810003

AKA: "PR_LAST_VERB_EXECUTED"

Which is set when you reply to or forward a message. (A value of 102 = replied to, 103 = replied to all, 104 = forwarded)

I want to be able to write a macro to remove this (or just set it to 100), which removes text in the header of the mail window saying "You replied on ..." or "You forwarded on ..." and the corresponding icon on top of the mail icon in the inbox.

I find that I frequently start replying, the email autosaves to Drafts (which causes the property to be set, as though I have actually sent the email), then I change my mind, either because another email comes in that clarifies it, or I pick up the phone to them.

My VB is pretty poor as I only use it sporadically, so simple explanations would be appreciated.
