Many Extra pages in Report!

I have a report with 4 pages of data and 468 pages of printout!
I looked through the other posts and tried to set the width at 6.5" but as
soon as I leave that property in the Report design field it flips back to
13.35"???
The report is set up to print on Legal paper, one column, grped by column.
Is there something else I need to change? Or change first?

If it is going back to 13.5, then you must have some controls outside the
6.5" . Find the control positioned around 13.35" and remove it.

I tried moving everything over to the 12" mark, including the page and page
number and still I can't reduce the left side to less than 13.335". I dragged
the margin to the 15" line hoping to see some field I couldn't before and
there weren't any. My Detail portion has a scroll bar, but doesn't scroll
past the 12" mark. Does that have anything to do with it? Haven't figured out
how to get rid of that either.

Click in the ruler at the top of the design view, at about the 13" mark.
See what controls get selected.

Ok, I was able to move the scrollbar over, and the 2 fields that were beyond
the 13" mark. But still my report is 488 pages long. A legal sheet of paper
is 17" long so 13" should be long enough even with a margin. The width seems
to be the length?
Thanks for that neat trick!

What are the page margins set in the File -> Page Setup dialog?

The margins are 0.15" all the way around.

I guess that isn't it, then. When you preview the report, do you get
several normal pages and a lot of blank ones, or a normal page followed
by blank ones followed by another normal page, etc., or do you get a lot
of abnormal pages? And if they're abnormal, what's abnormal about them?

At first I had intermittant blank pages mixed in with 8 pages of data. And
then the rest were blank. I tried a bunch of things and now I have 8 pages of
report being repeated 61 times. No Blanks! I get the same number of pages
468. This report comes from a query that in Dataview shows only 61 records,
but most are text fields, which is why the report is so long (8 pages)

Please open the report in design view, open its property sheet, go to
the data tab, and copy and paste the RecordSource property into a reply
to this message. I want to find out if the problem is in the
recordsource or in the report.

SELECT [Grievance Query-Open].* FROM [Grievance Query-Open];
Which is my query that pulls 61 open records.
Thanks for your help, but I just created a new report and it has I hope the
correct data, (It is being checked) and no xtra pages. I did not create the
first report and I can only drive myself so crazy!

Presumably there was something odd about the report, probably a forced
page break of some sort. If the new report works the way you want,
there's no need to investigate the old one any further.
