Manually Remove AD

I am trying to remove active directory in a LAB environment from a DC that
has seized all roles. Unfortunately, DCPROMO is not letting me remove AD.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Q article or method to MANUALLY
REMOVE active directory.
My goal is to remove all AD related files, and services and get the server
back into standalone server status WITHOUT reinstalling the OS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
