Managing the Pagefile.sys file

Hi:

I have recently changed the drive that I want to be used for virtual memory
(I am using XP). It was using my C: drive, but I went into Performance
Options and re-set the drive to the D: partition. I bought an additional HDD
(a new drive with much more space), and then made C: and D: drives s "No
Paging File" drives, and set up the new drive (E: drive) as the paging file
drive.

All okay, but when I went to have a look, both C: and D: drives still have
pagefile.sys files on the respective drives. This defeats the purpose
somewhat, as I wanted to free up space on those 2 drives. I am reluctant to
try deleting the C: and D: drive pagefile.sys files....is there any safe way
of getting rid of them, or of transferring their contents to my new E: drive??

Thanks for any help!

You have to :
- maintain a small pagefile on C: ( say 10Mb)
- once you have set a new value for a pagefile on a HD you have to apply it,
not simply hit the OK button but the button on the right of the
"no pagefile" checkbox ( "define" translated french to english, perhaps
"aplly" in XP english version : test)
If you only click on OK, changes are not fully applied.
Reboot after change

Hi

The minimum is 2MB and XP will happily boot with low amount.

Thanks to you both!

I meant to add - my new HDD is NTFS formatted, whilst the C: and D: drives
are FAT32. I've noticd that the system will not create a pagefile.sys file on
the new HDD (drive E:) - is it because it's NTFS?

At any rate, the pagefile.sys is now on D: drive, which is more acceptable
than C: drive...but I'd still like to store it on my new E: drive...:-]

Thought from readings that 10Mb was suggested for debug dumps or something
like that. Anyway even 10mb isn't much today ( my first gard drive was 10Mb
"big" ... )
Thanks for the info
