Surely there is an easier way to create, rename, delete and organize files on
CDR-RW disk!
I switched to RW disks thinking I could do these tasks and it seems very
cumbersome. It was so much easier on my ZIP drive!
Must I decide on a fiie name before I move or copy files? Should I open 2
windows to perform these tasks? Tell me there is an easier way???
I run Windows XP Home and have a CDR-RW drive
Thank you

Hello,

An easier way is to use packet writing software, the minus point being that
it will not be readable on other computers without the packet writing
software installed

Not true: Most packet writing progs such as Roxio will allow you to "close"
a disk, making it readable on any standard player. Even Nero does that from
what I've read.

Hello to Singapore and Poprivit

Well let me rethink my question....How do YOU and others save, rename,
organize, delete files and folders for storage on disk? Is this packet
writing my only option except to multiple step the whole process file by file
as I have been doing???
Thanks SOOO much for responding

I need to carefully think about my file names before storage? Seems like I
have a "file drawer" that I cannot rearrange or reorganize easily.
Thanks for responding

Hello,

I don't use CD-Rs/CD-RWs for quick storage - I use removable USB storage
like thumb drives or external hard disks.

And yes, as far as I know, packet writing is the only choice. You can also
use Sessions (which comes with many software like Nero), but it will reduce
in space as you add on files (and create sessions).

Which is why I find USB devices work best for quick and easy storage.

Hi Singapore
Believe it or not I really did not know the larger purpose of USB Storage.
Will I be able to organize my files on such a drive? Guess I should give
these little drives a try!!
I do have an external hard drive but did not think to access or use it for
usable storage. Only using it for backup at this time. SO much space here
I will work w/ the external for my purposes, IE for my Ebay photos etc? Hope
I am on the right track. GREAT replies and Thanks
