In Event Viewer > System, entries such as the following appear for
W32Time:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 35
Date: 4/28/2006
Time: 4:40:04 PM
User: N/A
Computer: yes
Description:
The time service is now synchronizing the system time with the time
source xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
(ntp.m|0x1|xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:123->xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:123).
The problem is these log entries aren't consistent, aren't always posted
when time synch occurs, and they don't jibe with what what I see when I
double click the clock and view the "Internet Time" tab.
For example, the log entry above is the last one shown. But on the
"Internet Time" tab, it says the time was last synched at 6:09 PM, not
4:40 PM. What gives? I would simply like for the log to reflect when
the time is actually synched.
I've done the "w32tm.exe /unregister" and "w32tm.exe /register" thing.
I've tried changing the values of EventLogFlags. I don't understand
what the problem is with regard to logging time synchs accurately.
