Making Outlook send email without Clicking Send/Receive...

I'm a former Netscape Mail user. When I click the Send button
on an email I've composed, I used to have it sent right away.
The Outbox is a useless function to me, and I want to turn it off
(i.e., I want Outlook to send my email immediately when I click
the Send button, not put it in the Outbox). I looked through the
other options, but none of them do what I specified above.

To be absolutely clear:

I don't want Outlook sending everything at the end, and I don't
want Outlook sending everything at the beginning. I want Outlook
to send ONLY when I click the send button in the composition window
that I'm typing in, and I want Outlook to send the email immediately
when I click the Send button, because that is when I'm done composing,
and I've chosen to send it...not when I've turned off Outlook, and certainly
not the next time I use Outlook (which is usually once a day at best).
Outlook doesn't seem to be able to handle this according to the Online help
program and on searching the self-help sites, so I've gotten on here to try
to avoid paying the outrageous $35.00 fee for an answer to my simple
one-paragraph email question of how to get Outlook to send emails
immediately when I click Send.

I know I sound snarky, but that is why I used Netscape in the
first place - it did exactly what I wanted it to do. Now that
Netscape Mail is pay-for-play and the program I used is no
longer supported, I had no choice but to go with Outlook, and
that was an expensive change (Netscape was free). Trying to
find simple answers to anything these days is really difficult,
and far too expensive.

Thanks in advance for your help,

A useless diatribe solved by simply posting your version of Outlook and
asking how to send/receive automatically.

Presuming Outlook 2003 - Tools->options->mail setup->send/receive - set an
automatic polling interval and set it to no less than 10 minutes for optimum
performance. Also ensure the box "Send immediately when connected" is
checked from the main dialog box in the Mail Setup option.

By the way, the help provided here is from your peer users so the "snarky"
comments about Microsoft or their support options add nothing to the
discussion and just serve to start flame wars.

You can't turn off the Outbox. Even Netscape Mail has one. If you want
your messages sent immediately, ENABLE THE OPTION.

Clean your glasses.

unfortunately, you didn't answer my question, and neither did Mr. Tillman.
I do not want *any* sort of automatic Send/Receives, I want to send only when
I physically click on send. Anything else would open up my computer to
hackers/rogue programmers potentially using my computer as a spam
machine without my knowing about it. I don't want *any* email going out
of my computer without my express knowledge and permission, and I want
to send my email immediately upon clicking send - otherwise I'd move the
email into the drafts folder myself. I also want to separate the send and
receive operations - there are a few times when I want to send, but not to
receive (such as if I send myself email reminders that I want to download
later). Is there a way to do this? And remember, I don't want to use
automation, I want full control.

Thanks again,

set the accounts in the send and receive groups to not check mail when doing
a S/R use the S/R drop down menu to check an account when you want.
However... if you think some rogue hacker is going to hack in during a send
and receive, you're smokin' something pretty strong. They are more likely to
get in while you are browsing, even if you use dialup. A firewall will offer
more protection than controlling send and receives.

<sigh> I suggest you do some reading about computer security. You obviously
have NO IDEA how it works.
