My OS is Vista Home Premium and I would to create an image so that in
future if I have to reformat, I can use the image. This will save me
from going into the arduous process of installing various programs one
by one.

Is there anything in Vista Home Premium that lets me do this? If not,
how can I do it?

Thanx/NSP

Hi,

Not in Home Premium, that function is only available in Business or
Ultimate. You can use a third party solution instead, available ones include
Acronis True Image, Image for Windows from terabyte, and the venerable
Norton Ghost. My personal preference is the second one, but each has its
strong points, Acronis' being oft recommended as the easiest to work with.

Hi

Ia there a freeware solution to cloning? What does this one

Hi, Rick
I've used Norton Ghost's DOS Ghost.exe to save a Vista disk image, and
except for the MBR, DOS Ghost.exe restores that image properly. A DOS
version of MBRWiz fixes the MBR for me. I've tested this and it works well.

What is required to restore this image created in Vista Business or
Ultimate? Can I boot from a DOS bootable CD or must I intall Vista in order
to recover the image?
