Making DBF Files

Not sure this is the appropriate Newsgroup, but...

using code like this -

DoCmd.TransferDatabase acExport, "dBASE III", _
"C:\LexEHS", acQuery, "QActionSummary", "eFive.dbf"

Does create a DBF file.

However, sometimes, running Windows 2000 & Access 97, this
results in a "Database File" & a "DBT File". Other times,
just a "Database File". When copying these files for
further use within Access, they work properly.

The Question...why is a "DBT File" created sometimes. & not
other times?

The DBT file would be created to contain memo fields.

I wish all answers were this simple.
I did verify this by examining the "DBT"s
created, & yes, there was a Memo field.

I knew you were the dbf guru so I thought I better jump early. I still have
my red, hardcover copy of Prague and Hammitt's dBASE III Data File
Structures around somewhere ;-)

I started on dBase II.
(Didn't get very far!)
dBase III was great!

Then I saw Access 1.1.

Things have never been the same since then!
