making chages to a subweb and saving it

Ok I read you have to edit a discussion web via the live
site.

However if you do that and then publish it back to your
computer site; it will attach all the articles to the
private folder..... and all thread links to the TOC page.

Is this ok? should they be deleted?

what if you want to publish the subweb via FP computer
site; won't it attach all those links?

does this make sense. Thanks

If you make changes on the live site and then publish back to your local PC,
you will get all of the content of the subweb.

You should never publish back from your local PC, unless you want to over
the files on the live site.

Well what I'm thinking is I may want to make changes to
the DW from time to time, add links etc. so if I do then I
guess I should do it on the live site but to have a copy
of the changes I'd have to publish it back to my local
site, so not sure what to do with all the links that wil
come with the save? Thanks

Yes, you would need to make any change directly on the live site, and
publish back to your local if you want a back up copy of the DW.

As far as the links, I wouldn't worry about them or you could publish the
entire site back to your PC.

(my concern is the page with the thread links TOC; will
save back to my pc) So can I save/publish just the page
that I edited on live site (ie border page); and not save
other pages in the process?

And what am I doing saving or publishing ?

Thanks for your assistance.

You should publish the complete subweb, so that you always have a current
copy, just incase your host doesn't do backups, etc. any time you make
changes to the pages. If you change a border, you have publish all of the
pages using the border, so just use Change Pages Only option when
publishing.
