Making a mask

In Ppt is it possible to make a black mask to overlay a picture WITH a hole
so that the viewer can see the picture through the hole, with the rest of the
picture blacked out?

Things I can think to do:

1. Insert your picture into a shape (as the shape's background). You can
make the border of the shape thick so it looks like a hole in the shape.

2. Use multiple black shapes over the picture.

I'm sure other people will have other ideas. I'm sure you can get the
effect you want even if it won't be as easy as it might be in a
sophisticated drawing program.

Try this:

Draw a black Rectangle
Draw a circle over it
set the circle fill to a solid unusual colour eg purple and no line
select BOTH the circle and rectangle
CUT
Paste special as png
Use the tranparency wand in picture tools to set the purple to transparent

Tou have an automatic shape ready for that! Something called Plain bow. You
just have to move the yellow handle to close the shape and have a black
figure with a hole centered
