Make XP install CD with SATA drivers?

Derek

I have a Biostar iDEQ 200N small form factor PC. The PC
has SATA, but my WinXP installation CD doesn't have SATA
drivers, so I have to hit F6 and use a driver floppy when
I install XP (otherwise the installer won't find the HD).
This can be a hassle because my PC doesn't have a floppy
drive, so I'd love to integrate the SATA drivers into the
installation and make a new WinXP CD that doesn't require
this floppy business.

Last week I slipstreamed my original XP installation with
SP2, so I'm hoping there's also a procedure for merging
my SATA drivers with the XP installation.

Any pointers would be apprecaited. Thanks.

The magazine "Maximum PC" had a step by step guide on how to slipstream SP2
and add drivers, to a new install CD. It was this past summer. I will have
to check in my "magazine pile" tonight so as to see which month.

Just about any driver that contains an inf and cat file can be
intergrated/added to a retail, oem, or select verison of the operating
system. Some of the key concepts that you will need to be familiar with is:

1) creating an unattended install cd (winnt.sif instead of unattend.txt)
2) creating the $OEM$, $$, and $1 folder structure that holds that 3rd party
driver

For example since you are already familiar with slipstreaming. At the same
level as the i386 directory, add a directory named $OEM$. Under $OEM$
directory, create a $1 and $$ directory. Under $1, create a directory
called DRIVERS. Under $$ directory, create a directory named INF. At this
point, put a copy of the INF file for the SATA driver in the INF directory.
Put the inf, cat, and all supporting driver files in the DRIVERS directory.
Edit the WINNT.SIF and list the DRIVERS directory in your OEMPnPDriversPath.
