make IE6 Defaut

I just migrated from Netscape to IE6 and asked if I wanted IE as
default browser. I said yes but when I click on a web page in OE6
mail I still come up in Netscape. I'm running 2000 XP home if it
matters. Can someone tell me politely when to go?
