I would like to create an Access data base from an Excel spreadsheet with
multiple columns. I do not have acess to to MS Access Report option on the
Data menu.

thanks

Not sure what you are talking about.

To create a database from a s\preadsheet, you would open acccess and create
a new table, then import the data from Excel.

I assume you have MS Access on your machine. Start access and create a
new database. From that database select "Get external Data - Import" then
select Excel from the drop down list of the file types. You should be able
to select the spreadsheet and then choose a tab.

When I try to import file from Excel, I call up Excel but only the
folders
are listed in Excel, opening the folders finds that they are empty.

When I try to import the Exel table, my Excel folders are listed only.
When I try to open the Excel folders, they are empty.

I am not sure why you would not be able to import a sheet but you can try
saving your sheets as .csv files and then importing into Access. Sometimes
Access assumes it knows your Excel file. Importing text files allows you to
have more control over the import and the field structure.

Hope this helps.

I am not sure what you are doing here.

Do you have Access open with a database open?

Are you using the top line menu to select Get External Data, then
Import?

At this time you still have no reason to have Excel open, nor will you.
It would likely be best if it was not open.

Are you able to use the drop down list in the file selector that should
now be open and select Excel files XLS type?
