No matter how I set up my computer with Mozilla as my default email
program, Excel 2003 brings up Outlook Express when I click on a mailto
link. What am I doing wrong? How do I get it to open my default mail
program instead of Outlook?

How did you try changing this?

Did you use Windows|Start button|settings|control panel|internet options,
then programs tab, then change the email program?

If no, you may want to try that.

Yes, that's exactly what I've done. I wondered if maybe there's some
setting in Excel I'm missing.

Just a guess...

I bet it's more like windows and Mozilla not behaving correctly.

If you do:
windows start button|Run
and type:
mailto:
(with the colon)
what email program starts up.

I don't use Netscape/Mozilla for my email client anymore, but I seem to recall
having similar problems.

My workaround was to change the mail client to something else, leave the
dialogs, then go back and change it back to Netscape.

The first time was practice and seemed to wake up Windows.

If that doesn't work, maybe reinstalling Mozilla would help.

(remember, just guesses!)

Dave-

That strange little workaround did the trick. I changed it to Agent,
saved, then changed it back to Mozilla, and now mailto links open
Mozilla as they're supposed to.

Thanks for the tip, I've already passed it along to someone else with
the same problem.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

(Sometimes it works after a couple times when it doesn't. Ain't windows a
strange beast????)
