MailMerge 2003 Access, older Word

When I open a mailmerge document in an older version of Word, it complains
that it can't understand the database. I'm assuming that older Words are
just not going to be able to open 2003 Access for MailMerge data. Is there
some good work-around?

Hum, you might be correct on this.

Access 2000, 2002, and 2003 all use the same field format by default, so,
this not normally much of a problem.

However, if for some strange reason you are using the a2003 format, but
using a older version of word, then I would ask why this is being done (as
mentioned, access 2003 does use a2003 format by default, so, normally you
got a lot a lee way here).

You don't mention how old.

However, I do have a working solution that allows mail merge, and you can
mix and match any version of word from 97 to word 2003 and it will work with
any version of ms-access from a97 to 2003. So, my approach does eliminate
the compatibly problems.

you can find my word merge sample/example here:
