Mail stuck in outbox.

I am getting increasing occurances of mail sitting in the outbox. Basic
senario is:
Normal e-mail is created with or without and reasonable sized attachment
(below 2mb) mail is 'sent' but sits in the outbox. When an automatic
send/recieve is run and send recieve error is generated. If outlook is closed
restarted e-mails usually go. Very occasionally a re-boot is required.
This happens in both outlook 2002 & 2003 on machines runing Winxp & mcafee
VirusScan. Some run Spamfighter (some don't) Some have the Window antispyware
running. none run the windows firewall.
 
If your virus scanner integrates with Outlook disable this integration and
try again.
