mail not working suddenly - can receive but not send

yesterday,I stopped being able to send email. I use
yahoo and pop it in outlook. Nothing changed in either
application.

The only thing I did was download a spyware sweeper --
could this be the problem?
 
If you uninstall/disable it, does Outlook work again?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
