mail merge

I am trying to mail merge- I have got it all down except I need to make the
name appear different from what it looks like in Excel. I want it to look
like this JOHN SMITH, but in Excel it looks like this SMITH, JOHN. This is
what is transfered to the envelope when I merge them. I heard something
about comma delimited something or another is that some thing I can do? And
how?

If you have Smith, John in a single column in Excel, then you need to split
that column, or derive two columns from it with the surname and forename
separated.
