Mail Merge Read Receipt

We want to send out a bulk e-mail using the Mail Merge tool in Word. These
messages need to be marked for read and delivery receipt. Can this be done?
How?

Changing the tracking options in Outlook doesn't seem to affect the e-mail
messages generated through Word.

I'm not sure if this will help; but I had the same problem using mail merge
in Outlook. If I set the delivery/read options at the message level, it
doesn't work. If I set them at the global level it does (but it does of
course for everything until you turn it off). You can try in Outlook: Tools
=> Options => Email options => Tracking options. Then click Read Receipt and
Delivery Receipt. This may work for you in Word as well.
