Mail merge of Access records very slow

I use mailmerge to place record entries into a word document. It has worked
well for years; however today when I select a record, it takes forever for
the merge to go through all the records and place the appropriate record
entries in the mail merge fields. I just exceeded 10,000 records in my
Access database, and I'm thinking this may have something to do with this
problem; otherwise it is just a coincidence. I repaired and compacted the
database but the problem remains. Any suggestions?

MDB is 'too slow for real world use'

move to SQL Server and / or Access Data Projects

and don't use mail merge-- use REPORTS and print them to SNP format, or PDF
or something

When you state appropriate record entries I assume you're somehow
selecting only a few of those entries. Are the fields you are
selecting on indexed?
