Hi, Will.
WOW! I see what you mean!
I've STARTED the Magnifier, and now I can't see ANY option to STOP it!
(Sorry for the ALL CAPS shouting, but this is frustrating, isn't it?)
I did finally get the magnifier stopped. I'm not sure how. But something
has also changed my font for reading here in Windows Live Mail. I don't
know the name of this font because my Tools | Options still show that I'm
using Courier New. But it looks very thin and washed out - and very hard to
read.
OK. After a couple of hours of trying things...
1. Turn off the Magnifier by going to Ease of Access | Make the computer
easier to see. Scroll down to Make things on the screen larger. UNcheck
the box that says, Turn on Magnifier, then click Apply. Give it a few
seconds to settle down. It left a single magnified window on my screen; I
clicked the X to close that window and I was back to normal.
2. I still don't know if it was related to Magnifier or to some of my
attempts to turn the Magnifier off, but the font problem was because I had
somehow turned off Clear Type. A fellow MVP finally reminded me to go to
Display Properties and keep digging until I found the Effects button and
then I could turn Clear Type back on. (It's buried much deeper in Vista
than in WinXP, probably because it is ON by default and does not need to be
accessed very often.)
