I want to create a macro which will indent the text in smaller font but then
return to the current size font I am working in.

Do I need create a macro to turn it on and another to turn it off?

No, you need to modify the Block Text (or Body Text Indent) style and use it
for your indented paragraphs in smaller type. You can assign a keyboard
shortcut to the style if desired. Ctrl+Shift+N will return you to Normal
style.

Block Text is indented both left and right, Body Text Indent only left. You
can modify both the size of the indent and the font size of the paragraph
style.
