Macros...copying from desktop to laptop...how?!?

Debbie

I need to copy macros from Word 2000 on my desktop to
Word 2000 on my lap top. I cannot find a way to do this
or even where these files are stored. Any help would be
appreciated!

Hi Debbie,

Macros are usually stored in templates (.dot files). Although it's
possible to store them in document (.doc) files, that isn't
recommended for most purposes.

Open the Tools > Macro > Macros dialog. Change the setting of the
"Macros in" box to Normal.dot and look at the list of macros in that
template. Then change the box to any other templates or documents
listed, and see if they contain any macros. (Ignore "Word commands" --
that's all the built-in commands.)

Once you know where all your macros are, read
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DistributeMacros.htm and
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm for information
about moving them.

Macros are stored in templates. In the normal.dot template by default.

See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, macros, etc.
