Alex Callea

Hi there,

We are experience a really weird problem with xp sp2 / explorer and
macromedia flash player:
we have a flash movie that use xml over http to communicate with our server.
On machines which have sp2 installed the movie does not play (we get a small
icon on the top left of the browser as if the flash ocx control was not
installed)
What is also weird is that if using netscape or mozilla firefox, it works
perfectly.
We reviewed ms and macromedia websites to find the solution and tried
everything but it still does not work...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Alex

After installing SP2, you may have to reinstall the Flash player. TRy
it. I have heard from others that it works (I do not use IE so I can't
report from my own experience)

Hi Alex :-)
I tried it but it still doesn't work

Try the following:

Flash & Shockwave not working

A few of things could contribute to the problem. Have you checked your
firewall to see if the ad-blocker or Flash blocker is set to on or block?
Also, there are several Pop-up blockers that will block Flash unless you
turn it off. I had POP-UP Blocker and it would not open Flash at all, and
it took me a while to figure out what was doing it When I unchecked the
Kill Flash it stopped. Some Flash has pop-ups and the blockers will see
them as ads or and kill it any way.

Also, if you have SpywareBlaster installed, be sure you have Kill Flash
unchecked - Open SpywareBlaster - Tools - Click on Flash Killer then uncheck
"Switch off Flash Player" or in v3.1 Disable and block Macromedia Flash (4X
5X & 6X) in Internet Explorer.

also.....

You might want to get the Sun Java instead, and it works very well.

I found the solution:

Apparently this behaviour can be fixed by adding the following object
parameter:
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />

We will do extensive testing on this. If it does not work I'll reopen the
thread.

Hope It helps
