Hi

I frequently receive emails where, when replying, I would like to remove all
but the latest message - you know how ridiculously long some emails can
become after a few bounces!

Does anyone know of an Outlook macro (or add-in) that can do this
automatically please? If not, surely it shouldn't be that difficult to
create one - any suggestions?

The previous messages you see are not actually separate objects. They're
simply text in the body of the message. If you don't want them accumulating,
turn off the option to include the text of the original message in the reply.
Tools>Options>E-mail Options.

if everyone top posts, its easy to go trim the older parts of the message -
put the cursor in the message body, hold ctrl and hit PgDown. If you don't
use a sig and want to delete everything, Ctrl+A and begin typing your reply.

Many thanks. However, I find that eliminating all the previous
correspondence in an exchange is worse that leaving it all in (especially if
a few days elapse before one sees the new email - "what was this replying
to...?"). Hence, my request for a macro that just leaves one message before
one's reply.

I realise that the previous messages are simply text - but surely given the
format of headers etc it would not be hard to write a macro that removes the
earlier messages? In fact I find it hard to believe that no one's done it
before...?

Thanks, but did you mean Shift + PgDown, perhaps?

Why not just select the unwanted text and press Delete?
