Is there a way to use scheduled tasks to run an Access macro hourly in the
background?

Kankakee,

Yes. The command line in your scheduler will be something like this:
"C:\Program Files\...<path to Access>...\Msaccess.exe"
"C:\YourFolder\YourApp.mdb" /x NameOfMacro
