Mac / PC file Sharing

Hell all, I just recently got a free Viao PC with XP, and I also have a Mac
(running OSX) I want to be able to transfer my files easily between the 2,
without using my email. I know that networking Mac to Mac is child's play,
but I can't find any similar features in XP, right now I am confined to FTP
over a router.

Please help!!

Thank you, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of a
tutorial, or some information NOT involving me to purchase a program that
costs over 100$$... Still thank you for your effort.

I don't have a Mac to check this, but my understanding is that they
include the software called "Samba". Samba (www.samba.org) is open
source software, originally developed for Linux/Unix many years ago to
provide file/printer/domain controller network services for Windows
machines. If installed on your Mac, there should be some documentation.
You also may find web sites where it is discussed how to setup Samba
to act as a file server for Windows machines. (I have used Samba for
years on Linux boxen for just this purpose and it work great).

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

I have networked my pc with my mac using PC MacLan, but my mac is only running OS9. I'm 99.9% convinced that you don't need to install anything to get windows xp networked with osX. I haven't got osX, but I'm sure that's one of its selling points. I bet there is a really simple explanation in mac help, or on the apple website
