mac and XP

Need to integrate a mac laptop into client's windows network.

The mac needs to:
1. Access a shared document folder on a winxp pro computer.
2. Print to a shared printer attached to the (same) winxp pro computer.
3. Print to an HP printer set up with an IP address on the network.
4. The mac already has successfully connected to the lan and can access the
Internet, but none of the above has been tried yet.

What do I need to make this all work, and how do I set it up?

Haus has helped me lwith a few things, and as usual his advice is really
good.

I am not a professional IT guy, but I do have a G3 Beige (OS9.2) networked
totwo XP machines. I use PCMacLan from Miramar software. The latest version
is best since it seamlessy allows our network to share a USB printer using
one of the PC's as the print server.

The irony of the printer is that, although configured for USB Mac or PC,
when running through PCMacLan's print server, performs Postscript functions
that were unavailable before we networked.

It's afully easy to set up under XP. I have used twwo different versions,
all very satisfactory. We do everything you have asked for, and a few more,
on our network. We also have a scanner, remote access for all three
machines, digital editing and large file storage. To make ours even more
fun, the 2 PC's are laptops and travel every day--the print server has a
docking station.
