I need to open .lwp files on disks, is there a way to
convert them to open microsoft word.

It's Lotus Word pro. You either need Wordpro or some other application
that will open them, and then "save as". MS Word is notorious for having
the least number of other formats of any word processing package that I
know of that it will convert.

Load them into a copy of Lotus Word Pro and use "Save As...", selecting
Word format. (They're Lotus WP files).
