Upon startup (WinXP Home), I get the message:

"C\Windows\System32\lsass.exe" Terminated unexpectedly with status code
- 1073741819. and the system shuts down (actually, restarts) after 60
seconds.

I have found this problem discussed in various forums in which the
shutdown occurs during normal operation of the computer, but it is
happening to me upon startup. Thus, I can't take the steps recommended
by the forum experts. Also, starting in Safe Mode does not work - I
get the same error.

It seems this may be related to the Sasser virus. I just need how to
bypass it in order to edit the registry, etc.

Be ready when the computer starts up. Immediately click on Start, Run and type in shutdown -a and click OK. That should abort the shutdown.

I had the same problem. I took my System Suite 7 cd that I recently
purchased, went into bios. Go to boot tab and tell it to make your cd drive
the boot drive instead of the floppy. Placed the cd in the drive restarted my
computer and was back in operation in about 25 minutes. My email address
has changed to (e-mail address removed). I had fought this problem for
several days. System suite is available from avanquest.com

Hi Chuck,

I have the same problem after installing SP2 from Win2k3.
Can you tell me more about your solution?
